Enjoy the Feast!
“He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”” (Mark 4:40 WEB)
Imagine that you cooked a feast for your friends, buying the best ingredients, staying up all night doing your best, and when you serve it before them the next day, they said this:
“Oh it’s fine. I will just have a bit. I should not be too greedy.”
They proceed to scoop a tiny helping, and at the end of the feast, there is so much leftover.
You ask them to pack up some to bring back home but they refuse, saying they feel bad to trouble you, that you can keep it.
Won’t you feel so angry and frustrated that you put in so much effort but your friends are not taking as much as they actually want, out of the pretension of being polite and non-greedy?
You would be thinking, “I cooked this feast for you so that you can enjoy it and finish it all.”
Dear child of God, Jesus shed His sinless, divine blood at the cross to pay the price for our sin debt, and to purchase every spiritual blessing in Heaven for us.
How can we take so little when God still has so much for us?
It would be a great waste to settle for less when Jesus had to suffer, bleed, and die to purchase all the good things for us.
Therefore, I will be on perpetual receiving mode towards God. I will ask, believe, and receive as much as I want.
When you do not ask, your faith is inactive and dormant. That is the lazy way. We need to ask more frequent and also more freely.
Don’t be afraid to take a lot. Jesus already paid the bill.
When God prepares a feast for you, eat as much as you can and enjoy it fully. This is how you honor Jesus’ work and delight God’s heart!
